CORDIS, the European Community's Research and Development Information
Service, is extending its coverage of partnership requests to include
security research.
As outlined in a new communication, presented on 3 February by Philippe
Busquin, EU Commissioner for Research, a new Preparatory Action will aim
at bridging the gap between civil research, which is supported by the
EU's Framework Programmes, and nationally funded defence research.
To achieve this objective and prepare the ground for an EU Security Research
Programme from 2007, a budget of 64 million euro is foreseen for three
years for projects and other activities. The funding will support and
reinforce Member States' individual defence activities, according to the
subsidiarity principle.
Organisations and individuals interested in participating in the EU Preparatory
Action may promote their partnership requests on the CORDIS Partners service.
Users are invited to submit or update their profiles by selecting the
programme 'SECURITY' in the 'type A' list of profiles.
The CORDIS Partners Service is a key tool presenting partnership requests
from companies, research institutions and universities across Europe and
internationally. Currently, almost 5,000 users are looking for collaboration.
