This upcoming conference in Ottawa, Ontario from Sunday October 5 to Tuesday October 7 2008, is being co-hosted with the International Society for Telemedicine and eHealth (ISfTeH).
e-Health is being recognized as a key enabler to provide access to care at the right time, in the right place, and with the right information available. Linking the many e-health services is essential to ensuring e-health works for patients and providers. Telehealth is one key enabler for improving efficiency, enhancing quality, improving accessibility and reducing costs. The benefits of telehealth will not be realized if telehealth applications operate in isolation of larger networks and broader e-Health applications. Telehealth's next frontier is true convergence and integration at the point of care.
Convergence will be achieved in a patient centric model which integrates technologies at the point of care. Collaboration between patients, providers, and technology is a critical driver for the development of technology as an enabler for responsive and effective care. While adoption by providers and patients is well underway, further integration and mainstreaming of telehealth will drive that adoption further.
Participants attending CST's Telehealth 2008 Conference: Convergence to Care: Patients, Providers and Technology ; can look forward to hearing and seeing from patients, providers and technology experts what the future will hold in a converged e-Health environment. Opportunities to explore current gaps and/or linkages between telehealth and other e-health initiatives will be presented including the successes and the continuing challenges. This conference will provide exciting key updates in the world of telehealth as well as provide opportunities for dialogue around the future
