ICT 2008
Setting the ICT research agenda for the next decade

(Over €2 Billion for ICT research, 2009-2010)

Who should be at ICT 2008?

Researchers, innovators, engineers, policy and business decision-makers in the field of digital technologies - ICT 2008 is for you. Special activities for young people and students - the ICT researchers of tomorrow -  are also planned around the Event. Don't miss this key event for shaping policy and research options for Europe's industrial and technological future.

Themes:

1 - Inventing the Future: ICT technologies for the future
2 - Innovative Europe: new markets, new sectors, new players
3 - Impact through Policy

Networking: build future partnerships

Networking sessions are defined by ICT stakeholders themselves. They are specifically designed to facilitate contacts between researchers, innovators and engineers from all ICT fields. That is why the ICT community itself proposes the networking sessions for ICT 2008.

Have your say - comment and rate the proposals

Now website visitors can rate them and comment on them , influencing which proposals will be selected for the event taking place in Lyon, France in November.

214  networking sessions are now online following the call for proposals that closed in June. This is not the final list - we want to know what you think of them to help us make that final selection for ICT 2008. You can do do this in two ways:
  • Post comments: Every networking session page allows you to leave a comment so you can let us know what you think. Look for the 'Add a Comment' link at the bottom of these pages. Your comment will appear immediately on the page, and will include a link to your Public Profile, so people interested in your comment can find out more about you. If you do not have a Public Profile then only your first name, last name and organisation will be published.
  • Rate the session: You can show your interest in a session by giving it a rating between one and four stars. This rating will not appear online but will help the organisers gauge interest.

Paperless ICT 2008: protect the environment!

Out of concern for the environment, the use of paper at ICT 2008 will be strictly limited.  Event documents will mainly be available in electronic format only. Participants will not therefore receive the usual conference bag, packed with literature.

Free USB stick -  Each delegate will instead receive a free USB stick providing:

  • 1 GB of memory on the stick itself
  • 1 GB of memory in each of 2 online storage spaces (accessible via the web). One space is entirely for your own use. You keep this online storage after the Event. The second online space will contain a range of downloadable documents relating to ICT 2008.
At the Commission stand, you will be able to download documents to your USB stick. WiFi access will also be available throughout the venue.

As in previous years, the ICT 2008 website will remain your most comprehensive source of information on all aspects of ICT 2008. However, a condensed version of the Event programme will be available on the USB stick for offline consultation, if necessary.

Join in - help the planet breathe!

  • Use a minimum of paper if you are organising a networking session or an exhibition stand.
  • Make supporting material available online, and encourage visitors to download it to their USB sticks. Innovative Europe: new markets, new sectors, new players

ICT 2008 Conference Draft Programme

The draft conference programme is still evolving and is subject to modification. Details of all sessions and speakers will soon be finaised. Rooms are to be confirmed.
