Group 8. International Cooperation

The health care telematics activities had a clear vocation to share its experience and results with other geographical regions, beyond the European Community and its then 12 member states. Collaboration was possible with countries of the European Free Trade Area (Sweden, Finland, Norway, Switzerland, etc), under special conditions. As the political events that took place in Eastern Europe created a new scenario for the extension of EC activities into this area, some frameworks of collaboration like COPERNICUS, were put in place. AIM conducted in collaboration with other departments some of this projects or studies, including the analysis on co-operation with developing regions.

The following projects have been grouped into this line:

CAMIREMA-EAST Case-Mix and Resource Management, Collaboration with Eastern Europe
EPI-AIM Health, Epidemiology and Telematics in Latin America and Africa
ET-SETUP (*) East Telemedicine Setup
EURO-AAP (*) Information Technology for Quality Assurance in Acute Abdominal Pain
INT-NICT (*) Information Technology for National and International Cooperation in Transplantation
MUM (*) Managing uncertainty in medicine
PRIMAS (*) Precision Real-Time Image-based Motion Analysis System at Economical Cost

(*) These projects were financed under the COPERNICUS umbrella and are subject to report in other publications (see Annual Report of COPERNICUS Projects, OP Office of Official Publications, Luxembourg).
