The evolution of medical technology (systems and devices) and their widespread use has improved speed, accuracy and efficacy at all levels of health care. It has also generated a large worldwide market in which Europe represents about one third. However, the increasing sophistication of the equipments and the associated costs tend to create technical and economical problems for both industry and users.

The project focused on the development of a consistent framework for the management of all kind of information related to medical technology. This includes the availability of medical devices and equipment across Europe, cost/effectiveness and quality procedures and the training of technical personnel.
