The project goal is to assist in providing more effective health care in the 1990's in the EC, and improving the quality of the health care services accessed by the patients. The focus is on two major questions in economic terms: 1) can we assess wether the level of services is correct given the relative demands? 2) are they being delivered as efficiently as possible in the context of health gains? The economic information will be developed at a macrolevel and at a microlevel. In accordance with the objectives and time scale, as well as the need for the industrial partners to provide a future return on their investment, the project develops a series of prototype informatics tools to assist in showing the value of the results and in determining the likely market. Economic/econometric models and supporting management tools, constructing evaluated telematics prototype models for analysis, forecasting and simulation of economic information, are also considered. This fullfils the needs of the community in assisting health care providers and planners in the provision of better quality services.
