The aim of the project was to develop and test a European Quality Assurance Programme for informatics systems for the community- based preventive child health services, immunisation, screening and developmental surveillance programmes, to help improve the quality of these services. This quality assurance programme should ensure that child health systems comply with WHO European Regional Targets No 31 and 38 of the Health for All in the Year 2000 strategy, which deal with assessment and quality of health information. The expected results were a consensus on quality among all providers of child health services, and the achievement of the EC objectives of having transferable and comparable health records across Europe.
