1. What is the Observatory?

The observatory, or in full, the European Health Telematics Observatory, was started in 1996 as an initiative to support the dissemination and advancement of medical informatics and telematics research and development. in Europe. EHTO was an accompanying measure of the Health Telematics Application Programme, funded by the Commission of the European Union (1994 - 1998)

The Observatory has a physical location, where knowledge is gathered, stored and exchanged. Demonstrations are done at this location, workshops held, meetings organized, etc.

2. I get prompted for a username and a password, but I don't have one? (Discussion Fora)

You have entered an area where a number of documents are exchanged and issues are discussed which are specific for a certain community. Restriction on access is not created for the creation of barriers to certain information, but is used as a tool to facilitate and promote the interchange of ideas at an early stage. If you feel that you can contribute to this process, a simple email to the coordinator of this section, to be found on the entrance page to the area (go one page back), will enable him to give you access to this forum, based on your interest to participate. If you had access but forgot your password, a mail to the coordinator can solve this problem.

6. Is there an EHTO helpdesk for my questions?

Yes, there is. Please email our webmaster (webmaster@ehto.org) for web specific questions, or email our general information address (info@ehto.org) about questions relating to EHTO. You can also contact the EHTO office via telephone (+351 21 319 3214), fax (+351 21 315 9430) or by mail (EHTO, Rua Dona Estefânia 82, 2ș, 1000-158 Lisboa, Portugal).

7. What is the difference between the browser [back] button and the blue button at the bottom of the EHTO pages?

The two have nothing in common. The buttons that are part of your browser allow you to navigate through the Net in general. Whatever pages or sites you visited, the browsers [back] button returns you to the previous page.  Buttons on a page follow their own logic. The buttons on the EHTO site follow the structure of the site itself. The blue icon that points up gives you a link to a higher level, relative to the present page. This might be a page that you already visited or not. It makes no difference. The browsers [back] button can only show you pages you already visited. The home icon on the EHTO site will always take you to the main index page of the site. Whereas the [home] button of your browser will take you to a page you denounced as your browsers start-up page.

8. What is HTAP?

HTAP stands for Health Telematics Applications Programme. Health is one of the working sectors within the Telematics Applications Programme, a Fourth Framework Programme of the E.C. Directorate-General XIII (1994 - 1998).
