Objectives

Organisation of theme-specific workshops and seminars prepared using electronic support media

Rationale

The twin objectives of this workpackage are:

• organisation of seminars/workshops on subjects of interest to the health telematics community
• demonstration of the interest of tele-working in the preparatory phases

Description

This activity will consist in the organisation of a series of theme-specific workshops and seminars on subjects of interest to the telematics community, including one on telemedicine, to be held in association with the MIE conference in Greece in May 1997, and another on security issues in health telematics. One distinctive element of the exercise will be the use of electronic tools (fora, E-mail and video-conferencing) in the preparation of these events, with a view to demonstrating the added value of this approach. Advantages foreseen include the possibility of attracting a greater number of participants to the workshop, and of establishing a dialogue between them beforehand. The proceedings will be disseminated on the EHTO server and its satellites.

There may also be the possibility of organising additional workshops/seminars at the request of the Commission, subject to discussion of the financial arrangements.
