Overview

SEAHORSE II is a follow up project to SEAHORSE which was a feasibility study for developing telematics support and information services for people affected by HIV/AIDS and their carers. On the basis of the results of this study, we will develop and test a range of services in 7 sites in London, Athens, Bucharest, Bologna and Madrid. The services target: people living with the virus, their carers, NGOs providing support, health professionals and health authorities. The main focus of the project is the development of a European 'Information Corpus' which will provide the building blocks for the validation sites to adapt material to develop and deliver their own local services.

Supporting the Corpus are a set of tools, including web mapping and navigation systems; annotations and seals of approval (SOAPS) to quality assure information; clinician information exchange and tools, and lifestyle monitoring software, enabling data capture on individual experiences of different therapy choices. The validation sites represent typical examples of different models of care. The project will utilise mainly client-server technology to deliver its services.

Purpose and objectives

To develop and validate information and support systems for people affected by HIV/AIDS.

To assess the transferability of such services across different socio-cultural and organisational contexts, and to different domains.

To develop and evaluate innovative tools and approaches applicable to Internet-based services (for example quality control of information)

Results

Development of a European evolving knowledge base for HIV/AIDS
Creation of standard benchmark for such information
Development of common design and evaluation templates to adapt Corpus to seven 'locales'
Development of tools to support service development and provision, including web mapping and
navigation tools; metadata and seals fo approval; interactive user monitoring tools; on-line discussion Fora; clinician information exchange and support network
