INTRANET HEALTH CLINIC
Interactive Information System for Health/Social Care | |
|
|
INTRANET HEALTH CLINIC is an international effort involving EU Member States and Canada, which will draw on the experience gained from the Alberta Research Council in Canada. It concerns a deployment of an Internet-based application for patient care using advanced multimedia techniques. The aim is to offer high quality care to users of health services over inexpensive communication pathways, using Internet-based, interactive communication tools, like videoconferencing.
INTRANET HEALTH CLINIC concerns a deployment of an Internet-based application for patient care using advanced multimedia techniques. Its aim is to offer high quality care to users of health services over inexpensive communication pathways, using Internet-based, interactive com-munication tools, like video-conferencing. Issues of confidentiality and security, as well as diverse legislative and sociocultural environment have been addressed. The Canadian partners have provided a unique experience and an environment to test the capability of the proposed approach in Europe. This extensive experience with web-based adoption strategies in the participating site in Canada, and the willingness and ability of the European participating industrial partners and end-users (health professionals' and citizens' groups) to further extend, validate and widely utilise and exploit those effective and inexpensive inter-active communications strategies are invaluable and very promising. INTRANET HEALTH CLINIC addresses patients’ needs in three key health domains (oncology, respiratory diseases and obstetrics/ gynecology), along with the Canadian rheumatic disease patients, as they seek health services in a complex regional environment of large tertiary hospitals, secondary level hospitals, remote primary health care centers and homes. The European experience in the deployment of clinical services through the proposed model of the Website-oriented, interactive com-munication is based on the peculiarities of the European culture and organisational niche and it will be inked to the specific European telecommunication environment. This effort is considered to be an added value as it expected to contribute to a more equal and universal access, higher quality, as well as more efficient delivery of health care services to European citizens
INTRANET HEALTH CLINIC project:
·
enables
the European citizen to receive health care services at higher level of quality
and reduced cost by fruitfully collaborating teams of health professionals, at
health care promises or even at patient’s home, whenever this is perceived
necessary.
·
enforces
the EU policy addressing patients’ rights and the principles of well informed
and dynamically involved in the delivery of their care European citizens.
·
seems to
become an effective tool for the health professional and a strong protective
shield for the citizen who seeks for high quality health services.
·
contributes to the expansion of the market,
especially for SMEs, which have a large share of the market by supporting
specific healthcare activities.
