Key words:
Mission:A paradigm shift is rapidly taking place within the healthcare sector. Its focus is now shifting from in-patients to ambulatory and primary care, and to other forms of care outside hospitals. These changes demand ways of describing and analysing the contents, costs and quality care from a patient's perspective, covering whole episodes of care. The aim of CHAINE is to select and evaluate elements needed for episode building, and to disseminate and discuss the acceptability and validity of the episode concept. This discussion will encompass different persepctives.
