| Mission: | Harmonising the Use of Health Care Data Cards in the G7 countries. G7-HEALTH CARDS studies the role of data cards in healthcare and their impact in the organisation of healthcare delivery systems. Issues include privacy and security aspects, the interaction of cards with telematics networks, the harmonisation of data sets and the interoperability of services through all-round compliance with international standards. The ultimate aim is to demonstrate the feasibility of piloting an international emergency card carrying all data essential for emergency intervention, and an international professional card to identify healthcare professionals when accessing medical data and network services. | ||

The objective of the feasibility study G7-HEALTH CARDS is that of evaluating the role of data cards in healthcare in the context of the Information Society, and their impact in the organisation of healthcare delivery systems.
The issues to be addressed in this wider context are:
The study will deal with all technical, economical and social aspects related to the application of cards in healthcare, and will publish a series of documents and reports aimed at disseminating the information and increasing the awareness of decision makers on the potential of this technology and related applications. The focus will be on doing the necessary preparatory work to demonstrate the feasibility of the development and piloting of an international emergency card that would provide the essential medical information that is vital for an emergency situation, as well as an international harmonised administrative data set, and of an international professional card that will allow the secure identification of healthcare professionals when accessing medical data and network services. Integral part of the preparatory study will be the organisation of meetings and workshops of experts to prepare the discussion and to reach consensus on the conclusions.
