| Mission: | HSPRO-EU will develop a remotely accessible telematics system to promote information on health and safety at the workplace in line with current legislation, particularly in small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). The project will aim at a universally accessible system matching user needs, with special concern for firms insufficiently active in this area. Implementation will last some two-and-a-half years. The operational effectiveness of validated sites for the system in four countries will be reviewed prior to its amendment and wider use by the end of that period. | ||

This project will develop a remotely accessible telematics system which will provide a range of health and safety and workplace health promotion information. Its focus will be particularly directed at meeting the needs of SMEs with respect to current legislation.
Anticipated results are:

Users involved Over fifty users from various sectors - employers organisations, trade unions, public service, business etc. of varying sizes and in different countries. Technologies and/or approach used Two way interactive service using networks in the participating countries and EURO-ISDN standards for transnational communication Expected benefits for the citizen Improved occupational health and safety practice and heightened awareness of health and safety issues affecting workers. Increased levels of health and safety, fewer accidents and instances of occupational ill health. Expected benefits for the users of the application Increased access to occupational health and safety information, increased compliance with statutory requirements. Increased skills levels in the area. Expected benefits for the European Industries Sharing of transnational information and experiences and contributing to the Information Society in Europe through extending the use of telematics to an area which has not seen its use on any significant scale before. Improved competitiveness through reduced costs associated with occupational ill health and accidents. Contribution to EU-policies Contributing to the improved implementation of European Social Affairs Directives in relation to occupational health and safety through facilitating increased access to relevant information. Improvements in social cohesion through targeting of SMEs and peripheral regions. |
