Healthcare Technologies Trade Delegation Going to Brazil The Department of Commerces Healthcare Technologies Matchmaker Trade Delegation is going to Sao Paulo, Brazil and Santiago, Chile on October 22-26 2001 to find out about the growing healthcare markets in Latin America Brazil is the largest medical device and equipment market in Latin America and is growing rapidly, especially in the private sector. Brazil imports almost half of its medical equipment from the U.S. and provides a springboard into neighboring markets. Chile expects to spend over $500 million on health care this year and Chile has doubled their healthcare budget since 1990. Over half of Chiles medical equipment is imported from the U.S. Chile plans to significantly expand or build new private public sector hospitals.
