October 20, 1997

1. The Institute Carlos III has invited EHTO Spain to collaborate on the design and management of several different seminars on Medical Informatics (Java in Medicine, Images Processing, Procurement, etc.). These seminars will start at the end of this year and will be continued in 1998.
2. Next November it will take place in Madrid the informatics SIMO trade fair. In this important event the Spanish Society of Medical Informatics (SEIS) will celebrate four scientific meetings covering the following areas: Hospital, Pharmacy, Management and Procurement.
3. The Facultad de Ingeniería of Rosario (Argentina) will start very soon as an associated partner to the IT-Eductra Consortium. The role of this University is to operate as a diffusion site in Argentina.
4. Soon several Spanish Companies in the Medical Informatics sector will form a group in order to develop medical applications for satellite web (Internet 2).
5. A working day on "Cooperation and Technology transfer with Iberoamerica in the field of Health Telematics and Education" is taking place on October 17, 1997 at the Head Office of the Health Institute Carlos III.
   The objective of this working day is to show the opportunities and cooperation mechanisms with Iberoamerica in the area of applications of information technologies for health and for flexible and long distance education.
