| EHTO ACHIEVED
A NEW POSITION IN ADT
May 2002 ADT - the Portuguese Association for Developing Telemedicine has launched the election for a new Administration Board, aiming to cover the period 2002-2004. After the result of the elections, EHTO has been voted to take the role of Vice-President and Special Advisor. Two months later on, ADT worked together with EHTO for the preparation of a new and much more ambitious "Programme" for the activities to be developed by ADT until May 2004. The 1st General Assembly too place, by demand of the President of the General Assembly, after hearing the President (Dr. João Abreu, former DG for Health and Counsellor of the 3 last Ministers), and finally the Programme was aproved by unanimity. During the same General Assembly, a "Panel of Specialists" was also elected, being formed by multi-specialists like as medical doctors, health administrators, engineers...all of them carrying from the past a vaste experience on ITC's and on Telemedicine. | EHTO provides
services to ANACOM (the Portuguese Authority for Communications)
July 2001 ANACOM has contacted "EHTO Enterprise SA", aiming at obtaining different types of services, taking into account that all the future services had to take in consideration how to stress the growing key role of communications worldwide. The Services to be produced by EHTO, are of diverse kind, like as: preparation of International Studies on the field of communications but focusing also on statistics and in strategies; selection of specific information having a relevant interest to the profile of ANACOM; launching short activities and writing documents, aiming at giving a major visibility to ANACOM, worldwide; organizing and promoting a number of international conferences on ICT and Health, where ANACOM would have an active and relevant role), etc. Following a number of negotiation meetings involving both organizations, it was agreed that a contract had to follow, and to be prepared in the short time, then to be signed by ANACOM and EHTO Enterprise,SA. In the contract, it was fixed a total value, which would be paid by ANACOM to EHTO Enterprise, SA, for the services done. Such contractual fixed payment should be automatically renewed, in each year, unless its cession will be declared by both parties. |

| EHTO prepares
to become "EHTO Enterprise, SA"
January 07, 2001 EHTO has started in January 2001 a new work phase aiming at moving towards an exclusive Portal, focusing exclusively on "ICT" in Health. The EHTO Portal covers and explore an unique market-niche, world-wide (technologies and telematics in Health), and such specialization gives the Portal the quality of being "unique", without competitors world wide. For that purpose, a new venture was created to prepare a "Business Plan", and it brought to EHTO new and important partners from Sweden and Canada, who should continue linked to EHTO afterwards, because they will take part in the new society to be created in a few months from now. All the persons being involved in the development of EHTO, have agreed that, the Swedish and the Canadian persons will become also "founding partners", exactly like the three other partners who already exist (and are based in Portugal), and should give a solid work contribute to the future EHTO Enterprise. From an administrative point of view, our lawyers point to the middle of June 2001 as a possible date for the legal creation of the Enterprise, in Lisbon. |

| EHTO presentation
in the "Telemedicine Trade Fair"
December 2000 The "Luxembourg Telemedicine Trade Fair" and EHTO have agreed to organize a special session in the 2nd day of that exhibition for closing the room sessions. An interactive session is being prepared which will be sponsored by EHTO, aiming to address Telemedicine-related key issues at a distance by 3 different European experts, being all of them simultaneously online. Animation for the event will be handled by a specialized journalist in the room session itself. A full streaming video of that "interactive" session will be available (real-time) in the EHTO site. |

at the IST 2000 Conference in Nice
November 23, 2000 As it is well known, one of the major services offered by EHTO is to help disseminate ICT results and best practices in conjunction with major conferences and exhibitions. A good example of what can be shown and how EHTO contributes to enhance health-ICT results can be seen in the "Invitation Programme" we have established for the EC IST 2000 Exhibition. October 25, 2000 The European Commission (IST) has invited EHTO for the Telemedicine area in the IST 2000 Exhibition. EHTO will be at stand D65 and for the 3 days of the conference a live show of telemedicine demonstrations will be permanently running. | The results of the EHTO NLAS extraordinary
meeting in Hannover
September 7, 2000 As announced earlier, EHTO, its NLAS and a number of interested partners have had a special meeting to discuss a number of questions, owing to the creation of the founding-organization to support the new "EHTO PORTAL". We took the opportunity to meet in Hanover, on August 27th, because some of our partners were also participating in the MIE 2000 Conference. The main conclusions from our meeting stressed the urgency in creating the EEIG organization that will launch the EHTO PORTAL. All the participants stressed that expectations concerning the new European Web platform are high. EHTO also confirmed to the interested partners the important sponsorship given by Portugal Telecom, as of January 2000, as well as the firm commitment of Sun Microsystems to support the new organization at its bottom-line, with an adequate Platform and with state-of-art working-tools that will be needed for maintaining success in the multiple PORTAL activities. A clear reference was also made on the need to develop a stronger interaction with the NLAS. The existing EHTO Network of NLAS (9 sites) no doubt plays a role of utmost importance in the Portal creation and on its impact world-wide. Therefore, it becomes clear that the NLAS have to be part of the core organization that is under construction for the EHTO Portal. That will lead to a new type of contract to be signed, soon, between NLAS and EHTO. Owing to the new philosophy and action behind the European Portal, such a new contract will cover the basic needs related to the creation of the new organization (EEIG model) but, and mainly, it has to establish completely new types of activities that will strengthen the interaction between all the nodes of the EHTO NLAS Network and the Portal. |

of a new NLAS in Sweden. Such new structure was formalised last week, by
the official signature of the MOU. The Swedish NLAS is coordinated by Rufus
Lidman, CEO, E-Health Sweden KB, Uppsala. The Swedish site will be promoted here on the EHTO site as soon as this NLAS is up and running. |
