Overview

• define the specification of information systems to allow interoperability in terms of security mechanisms, card readers, networks etc.
• demonstrate and evaluate on a large scale the research of this domain carried out in the EU over the past 8 years.
• provide the relevant information to allow the full implementation of at a national and regional level in France, Germany and Italy (and to some extent in Quebec, Canada) of telematic strategies in Healthcare based on networks and patient and professional cards. France, Germany and Italy have already developed national network and card based solutions in health telematics and participated in many EU funded research project in this area. In particular they have co-operated to define the specifications of a common card terminal manager on a European platform.

Purpose and objectives

• to continue the specification work of common solutions particularly in the domain of security architecture, network, health professional cards, and patient data cards holding both medical and administrative data.
• to demonstrate in pilot sites the practical and economic feasibility of of integrated solutions
• to design deployment and convergence plans at a national level. The NETLINK project seeks to build on the wide range of EU funded work both continuing and already completed. Accordingly, the project will interact closely with TRANSCARDS project on the simplification of administrative procedures in t he communication of administrative and health insurance related data funded by (DG V) and the TRUSTHEALTH 2 and RUBIS projects. The recommendations of the following TAP funded projects EUROCARDS, G7 CARDS, CARDLINK, DIABCARD, ISHTAR and TRUSTHEALTH 1 will be significant for the work of this project.
